I Am Who I Am

A commissioned work based on the story of Moses before the burning bush, the mosaic became more of a ‘life of Moses’ depiction, with allusions to the baby in the bullrushes, the shepherd’s staff, the Red Sea, the cracked tablets, Sinai, God’s self-identity (in the clouds) and Moses being illuminated by God’s presence. Moses, ironically perhaps where the origins of ‘mosaic’ comes from, holds a universal story for us all. He was a human who doubted his own efficacy as the appointed leader of a people, but once he gave himself to his unique calling, he discovered the powerful source behind and within life itself.
